Hi, My name is Jon Whistle, I have been playing and teaching guitar for well over 20 years. I started by playing in small touring rock bands in the late 70's, and did fairly well. I graduated from Berkely School of Music in 1986 with a degree in guitar mastery.
I was performing in front of crowds of over 20,000 people before shred guitar was even a concept. I played in several small bands opening for the likes of bad company, Dixie Dreggs, Mothers Finest, and Atlanta Rythym Section.
I took on learning shred guitar in the mid 80's just as it began to become popular, and yes back then it was thought to be magic. Me and my guitar friends would sit and practice for days and days and hours and hours on end trying to develop speed. It was grueling. I am a much older fellow now, and just teach all the young fellows everything I know which for me is a true blessing.
What I would have done to have had all the great software tools the young guys have avaiolable today would have been huge. You young guys are living in a awesome time right now allowing you to master skills such as shred guitar, recording, and music business marketing. I love seeing you guys grow. Keep up the good work...
